Plasmid identification

The goal of this project is to work in pairs to identify two plasmids, one with a kanamycin resistance cassette and the other with an ampicillin resistance cassette.

It runs in the Spring semester of Level 1, for students on Molecular Biosciences degree programmes, consisting of a planning session followed by three lab sessions (but this could probably be reduced to two). Each of the methods (bacterial transformation, diagnostic restriction digest, and PCR) have by this point been taught and students have performed each of them in previous sessions.
